Space has a long-standing commitment to supporting those starting their career in the Architectural profession, and over the summer, we recruited several graduates who make up the 2023 intake.
Graduates from Northumbria and Newcastle University have joined us as Part 1 Architectural Assistants. The group will join the year-long Space graduate programme, which includes seminars on building regulations, the RIBA Plan of Work, CDM, and practice management.
Lucie Maxwell and Brook Wilkinson joined us after completing their Part 1 studies at Northumbria University.
"Whilst studying at Northumbria, I developed a keen interest in purposeful, user-centric and environmentally conscious design. Working at SPACE allows me to explore and expand on these principles - whilst being part of a sustainable practice contributing to a better future for the planet. I'm looking forward to working with this supportive team," says Lucie.
Brook Wilkinson spoke to us about her heightened curiosity about buildings designed with communities and people in mind and of feeling inspired to find architectural solutions that enhance users' lives and fit net-zero principles. Brook continues,"This made me want to join SPACE as the main principles here are people and planet first. I am looking forward to learning from this innovative team."
Charlie Kay also joins us as a graduate of Newcastle University. Charlie said,"After completing my Part 1 studies, I wanted to join a practice that worked on ambitious projects around the country as well as affecting my local area. SPACE's depth of work in the education and residential sectors ticked all boxes."
Each will also have the opportunity to attend an intensive Revit training programme over several weeks and benefit from broader SPACE development, including the weekly "Thinking Thursday" sessions and ongoing CPD seminars.
Rob Charlton, CEO of Space Architects, commented,"It's always great to see new talent joining the business. Our graduates are just beginning their careers, and it's great to see their enthusiasm, energy and willingness to learn."
We are thrilled to have them on board and can't wait to see what is next for our newest Architectural Assistants.
